Quick Review on Kimono Ken Japanese Restaurant

On the last day of August 2014, my mom, sister and I had a pilgrimage in 7 Churches in Bataan, and just before we called it a blessed and awesome day, we decided to have a late dinner somewhere in Tomas Morato.

It was already near 11:00 pm but I was surprised that there were still quite a number of restaurants open at that hour. Supposedly, we would dine in Amici; however, they were only accepting customers for desserts. Hence, we ended up in this Japanese restaurant called Kimono Ken, which was really cozy!

Alright, since I promised that this will be a rather quick review, here's the first dish we had.

Kani Salad || P200
Crabstick, lettuce and cucumber w/ tobiko in Japanese mayonnaise
Kani Salad of Kimono Ken
Fresh Kani Salad for the starter!
Simple yet fresh, this Kani Salad was slightly interesting with its Japanese mayo dressing that had a light wasabi zest. Unfortunately, I still find this dish not-that-sulit because of the plainness of the taste.

Gyu Hireniku (Beef Tenderloin) || P385

This Gyu Hireniku was strikingly tender with its savory sweet teriyaki-style sauce! On my first bite, I literally had that "pikit-mata-sa-lambot-at-sarap" experience! Well, maybe I was just hungry that time, but still I won't deny that it really happened to me. Thumbs up for this!

Chahan || P80
Chahan of Kimono Ken Japanese Restaurant
Chahan - Special Japanese Fried Rice!
I don't have much to say about this rice dish except for the fact that it went well with the Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki!

Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki || P190
Chicken with a sweet wine sauce fried to perfection
Highly recommended Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki of Kimono Ken

Resembling the famous chicken of Bon Chon or anything similar, the Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki offered a light yet interestingly-flavored chicken! It was my first time to see something like this served in a Japanese restaurant, so I became extremely happy with it!

Note: According to the waiter who took our order, this is one of the famous bestsellers here!

Quick Summary of Kimono Ken

Give your approval or disapproval to Kimono Ken

Although I wasn't able to try a sufficient amount of dishes to have a definite say about the restaurant, I would say that this restaurant sure has a huge potential! In fact, I'm looking forward to try its other dishes because I was impressed by both the Crunchy Chicken Teriyaki and the Gyu Hireniku! Plus, it is not that expensive here, and the slight premium on the dishes we had was worth it!
