Dinner Buffet in Midas Cafe of Midas Hotel and Casino

Just a few weeks before we welcomed the year 2014, my family and I were able to dine in the Midas Cafe of Midas Hotel for the celebration of my mom's birthday! Since, I had a great buffet experience there, I decided to share the wonderful experience with you here.

Update (12/10/2017) - Since this post was written over three years ago (i.e. January 8, 2014), I decided to give it a little update from my recent experience. I tried retaining the essence of when I first wrote this, so I'm keeping the additions minimal.

Midas Cafe - The Place
The interior of Midas Cafe - lights, prisms and greens!

Deviating from the minimalist style, the interior of Midas Cafe was ironically bright and dark at the same time. The place is supposedly dimly lit, but the mirrors tend to spread out the glow. This created the oxymoron-inspired ambiance.

Also, I was half way into totally liking the place, because I found the interiors complex and distracting, but that wasn't exactly the point because the food deserves so much attention rather than the place itself.

The Dinner Buffet
It was a nice thing that Midas didn't stop me from taking photos of the place as well as the food. However, I tried taking the photos as discretely as possible. Sadly, this resulted to a set of not-so-great photos. Still, I hope you will be able to appreciate them!

Let's begin with the appetizers first - specifically with the fruits!

Now, how about we take a brief tour of the cheese station:
The selected cheeses - limited but fantastic!

Apparently, there was only a limited selection of cheeses, but still I found them sufficient enough to kick up my taste buds!

How about we check out the salad bar?

If you can't get enough of the healthy eating, why not satisfy your Japanese cravings with the sushi and rolls in Midas Cafe?

As you may notice, the sushi bar is not filled several varieties; however, everything offered tends to be refilled fast. Plus, you will really enjoy the great quality and freshness of all the sashimis here!

Unfortunately, during my recent visit in 2017, this station seemed to have resorted in something simpler focusing only on the rolls and sushi. This being said, there weren't any sashimi during my latest visit.

If you want to load yourself up with some carbs, why not drop by the Bread Station of Midas Cafe.

There was a handful of breads to choose from, plus you may go double carbs with the pizzas! Pizza were no longer served during my latest visit.

Alright, if you are into soups, Midas Cafe offers at least one soup for the night. This one varies per day, but what we had that time was some cream of pumpkin.

Seafood Delight
If you are so into seafood like I am, you will feel a short bliss here in Midas. You may go for some fish (e.g. salmon), shrimps and mussels. Also, with the grilling station of the restaurant, you can have it cooked the way you want it to be!

For 2017, Midas seem to have decided to focus on its grilling. Hence, I suggest that you really do try 'em all, and ask them to be cooked in various ways.

Right now, the popular pick in Midas Cafe is the fresh salmon. You may asked for these to be grilled, but you may ask for other ways for it to be cooked.

Well, if you happen not to like seafood, here's something harder to resist - roast beef!

Just to let you know, the beef was mostly rare, but fret not, you may have it seared in the grilling station.

Now, let's go check out some of the offerings:
Beef Bourguignon - tender beef matched with savory and tasty tomato-based sauce

Here's something a little interesting - the beef kebab. Sadly, the recipe sometimes gets inconsistent because weeks before this particular dinner, I was able to try it, and I intensely loved the kebabs. However, this one we just had went a little overboard in terms of the curry taste.

PS: I disliked the taste of curry, so if you happen to be the opposite. You may really enjoy this one.

Dessert time!
One thing I personally love about buffets is the desserts section. It was a relief that Midas offers a decent line-up of desserts!

Like common buffet restaurants around town, Midas has an ice cream/halo-halo/crepe station. The great thing about this is that you may request for anything you'd like for your dessert!

Anyway, like I've mentioned the dessert selection is not as wide as you may expect, but it is wide and sufficient enough to satisfy your sweet needs.

    1. Thanks for the visit Michy! Roast Beef station always fascinates me. I don't know why, or maybe I just don't see a huge chunk of meat from time to time. :)
