Buto't Balat Restaurant in Danao, Iloilo City

Buto't Balat Restaurant in Danao, Iloilo

If you are looking for a place that has this great outdoor feel, you will most likely enjoy it here in Buto't Balat together with the range of great Filipino dishes. There is a good amount of greens in the landscape, and the restaurant is designed like a nipa hut.  It’s really a nice place just to relax, chill and enjoy great food.

Here in this blog post, I’ll be giving you a glimpse of the restaurant and some of the food served. Let’s begin with the sights and landscape.

Buto't Balat in Iloilo City

As you may see in the photos above and below, the place really sends out a cool refreshing vibe form the grass and the pond. Plus, you’ll enjoy the outdoor breeze when you dine in the huts.

For the dishes, we had the usual Ilonggo favorites – talaba, chicken and managat!

Fresh Talaba (Oysters) || P140 - Whole order || P75 - Half order
Fresh Oysters of Iloilo

I got my first does of the oysters here in Buto’t Balat, so I was extremely happy about it. Plus, it was all fresh – matataba, malulusog and yami!

Native Chicken Inasal
Native Chicken Inasal

The chicken was amazing, but it may need to be more tender to be highly noteworthy.  Still, with its lightly sweet and moderately smokey taste, the chicken left a satisfying impression.

Managat (price varies depending on season)
Fresh Managat of Iloilo, Philippines

This managat was not as fantastic as the one I had in Ponsyon in Plazuela de Iloilo (read more), but it still had this uncommon taste and texture that is considerably palatable!

Garlic Rice Plate || P90

This garlic rice was not tasty by itself, which for me was a good thing because it allowed us to focus our attention on the flavors of other dishes we had.

Fresh Buko || P75
Buko Juice Iloilo

For my drink, I had this highly refreshing buko juice. Drinking it was soothing, relaxing and calming!

Budget: At least P250 each for a light to moderate sharing type of dining experience for a group of 4

Overall, I really liked this restaurant because of the serene landscape and interior. The dishes ordered ranged from good to great, which then makes this a great place to check out! If you are traveling to Iloilo, you may want to add this up to your list. Plus, this is one of the few places I know that offer Baked Oysters in the province (yeah, most of the restaurants serve only fresh and/or steamed).
