Big B Burgers in Maginhawa Street, Quezon City

Big B Burgers in Maginhawa

During my first conducted food trip in Maginhawa Street (read more), we included in the list Big B Burger. However, when we got there it was packed, and it was extremely hot (yes, there are no air-conditioning units in the place). Hence, we resorted to Stuff Over Burger (read more) instead, but don't get me wrong. That one was awesome as well.

Months have passed, and I got the opportunity to have lunch again in Maginhawa. This time I was able to go for it.

From the outside, the place seem really cramped and small, but if you go a little deeper you'll find this den:

I found this den fascinating because I didn't know that there was something like this inside. However, there was something about it that made me feel uncomfortable and uneasy. Maybe it's the lack of air?

Now, the waiting part was excruiciating. It took a long while before our orders were served. Well, it may not be that long (probably about 15 to 20 minutes), but my hunger amplified it. This is why when the orders started arriving I took a fast shot, and morbidly attacked!

This poutine featured thicker cuts of fries drenched in cheesy gravy sauce. It was a first for me, but I found it a bit strange.

The burger patties had this well-grilled patty that was tender and nice. However, the flavors (mostly from the creamy sauce) only jived well at the start but soon became intense and too tiring. The cheese even became too dense at some point.

However, don't get me wrong. I really adore the burger at first. In fact, I initially thought that I finally met my best burger so far. It was just I didn't find balance in it.

Again, I found the flavors too thick and heavy attributable to the creamy sauce. I suggest that you go for the smallest size (or divide the half or one pounder among the group) because flavors may be, as mentioned, exhausting.

Budget: At least P100 each for the most affordable burger

You may call me weirdo, but I can't help but  not fully appreciate the burgers here in Big B Burgers. Well, I admit that during my first few bites, I thought that I just finally met my "best burger",  but as I consumed more of my burger, I got extremely tired of the taste. It became heavy and dragging. This, in my opinion, was a manifestation of a lack of balance in the flavors. There even came a point where I didn't want to finish the burger, but since I don't want to waste any food, I still consumed it all the way.

Now, with this experience, I would say that you go for the smallest size to avoid being too overwhelmed of the taste. Then again, this may just be part of my weirdness.
