Cru Steakhouse of Marriott Manila
Cru Steakhouse of Marriott Manila
After indulging on a festive food tasting event for the valentine's special of various Maxims and Resorts World Manila restaurants, I was yet fortunate again to be called out to try the CRU Steak House (read as /kroo/) via Zomato!

I wasn't aware about the rave over the steaks of CRU, until I told my sister I'll be checking the restaurant out. She got a little envious, saying that CRU is a really great  place for steaks!

Moving on, I got to the place via the shuttle service of Resorts World Manila, and I got there really early which I don't mind because I enjoyed catching up with blogger friends.

It was almost 6:00 pm (i.e. the time when the restaurant opens), and so we were ushered in this magnificent cozy looking place!

The place was stunningly sexy and gorgeous with all the red tones, stunning furniture and other wooden interior designs! I've got to hand it over to them -- they really banked a lot on CRU's ambiance and sophistication!

Now, as the night unraveled, we were soon served with these freshly baked breads! All of them were really fantastically tasty!

Soon after, the dishes were served up and I started to ogle over the amazing plates of fancy food!

Salad

Organic Baby Spinach by Cru Steakhouse
Organic Baby Spinach with the delectable Parmesan crisp!
This salad was definitely one of a kind! The flavors put together in this dish were all rich and complementary resulting to a fine foodgasmic experience -- there was this great combination of creaminess and saltiness from the blue cheese, made interesting with the walnuts and balanced by the sweetness from the orange.

Organic Tomatoes || P580
Marinated feta cheese, red onions, balsamic dressing
Organic Tomatoes of Cru Steakhouse
Organic Tomatoes for vegetarian and health-conscious foodies!
The gigantic organic tomatoes were all plump, juicy and subtly sweet. I'd never seen any tomatoes this big!

Soup

The collection of soup here in Cru Steakhouse was spectacular!

Perhaps the best soup I tasted so far, this Wild Mushroom featured an excellent combination of distinct and potent flavors with the truffle essence being prominent yet un-overwhelming.

These visually enticing dishes were indeed fresh; however, I didn't find much joy with these compared to the other appetizers served.

Although I can't remember much of the taste, I remembered my taste buds getting extremely tickled or "zapped".

Overflowing with extreme freshness, this dish was something I really loved! The salmon was noticeable tasty due to its fresh state, and the ingredients mixed were all reinforcing.

Although the Tuna Sashimi was undeniably fresh, I would have preferred it to be thinner in slice, so as to bring out more of the flavor of the tuna.

Tuna Tartar || P560
Poached quail egg, tarragon dressing
Tuna Tartar - Cru Steakhouse
Tuna Tartar - a special offer for the month of March!
This Tuna Tartar had slight similarities with the Salmon Tartar with this dish having more powerful flavors. Since I found the taste a bit overwhelming, I would still choose the salmon over this.

Steak and Sides

US Certified Angus Beef Prime Rib Steak (900g) || P5,400
Choice of 5 CRU side dishes, 2 sauces, carved tableside
A Season of Flavors in the side dishes of the Rib Steak - CRU Steakhouse
A Season of Flavors in the side dishes of the Rib Steak
Here are some of the side dishes that went along with the Rib steak. Among those that I tried, my favorites are as follows: Black Truffle Risotto, Mac & Cheese and Portobello Mushrooms.

Grilling the US Certified Angus

After the tedious grilling process, the masterpiece was finally finished, and as the steak was being sliced table-side, the tempting aroma kept on wafting through the cozy room. I was all dreamy with my excitement!

As soon as it gets served, I sank my teeth onto these well-cooked slices of the steak. It was blissfully juicy and tasty -- one of the finest I've tried! And even without the sauce, I was able to enjoy it at its fullest.

Desserts

Even if I really wanted more of the steak, I contained myself because I needed to save space for the desserts.

Banana Foster || P410
Caramelized banana, flamed rum, raw sugar, whole butter, sliced almonds, vanilla ice cream. Prepared tableside.

There are two-words that will basically sum up this dessert - simple and sweet (three words actually if you include "and").

Chocolate Caramel Crunch Log || P380
Chocolate Caramel Crunch Log of Cru Steakhouse

This visually enticing dessert was surely something I found interesting because of the caramel crunch incorporated in the cake. Sometimes it was a little more than sweet.

Sweet and Salty Chocolate Moist Cake || P400
Sweet and Salty Chocolate Moist Cake of Cru Steakhouse
Sweet and Salty Chocolate Moist Cake
For those who are a fan of salted caramel, you will enjoy this huge dessert! It had this semi-moist texture, flavorful choco goodness and interesting saltiness. I needed to mention "semi" because I would have appreciated the cake even more if it was moister. I'm a die-hard fan of super moist cakes!

Also, similar to the crunch log, this cake has sweetness that may not be that tolerable for some. Of course, this can be remedied by taking only a small portion and sharing the rest with your date, loved ones or friends!

Grand CRU Chocolate Praline Mousse || P400
Grand CRU Chocolate Praline Mousse - Cru Steakhouse

Among all the desserts served, this was what I liked the most. It got this lovable creaminess and balanced sweetness. Somehow it reminded me of Reese's peanut butter cups, but only better.

Cru Steakhouse in a Nutshell
With the combination of great ambiance, service and dishes, my dining experience here in CRU steakhouse became one of the most memorable ones I had for years! In addition, I got to encounter here some of the best dishes I've tasted such as the Wild Mushroom (for the soup), Black Truffle Risotto (for the side dish) and of course the steak!
