Songkran Thai Street Food in Aguirre of BF Homes

Just a few days before we ventured into the working world, I and some of my new friends decided to go for a fun-filled food trip, and similar to the food trips we had, I set a P500 limit in the food trip we conducted. Unfortunately, I broke this rule and spent a little above P600 during our exploration.

Anyway, the first stop we chose was this Thai restaurant called Songkran. I've searched through other blogs, and I found out that this one is famous for some of its appetizers. Taking the advice of other bloggers as well as a friend, we decided to go for appetizers here in this first stop.

Songkran - A Peaceful Space
The good thing about BF Homes Neighborhood in general is its relative quietness, but this was given more emphasis here in Songkran. You'll feel the peaceful ambiance with the comfy and spacious interior, and since the place isn't usually filled in during lunch, you will very much enjoy the free space.

About the Service/Staff
My only concern during our brief stay in the place was the staff. They didn't seem very enthusiastic about having customers, since they rarely smiled. Hence, regardless of their true intention, it felt like we were unwelcome.

Anyway, I just decided to shrug it off because we were there primarily for food exploration. Unfortunately, since we began the food trip with 4 people, we weren't able to order much to keep the cost down.

Tip: For a food-tasting food trip, the ideal number of foodies in a group is 5 or 6.

Although this Pad Thai captured the tradition goodness of the said this, it failed to realize its full potential with its tough noodles. Sure it was sweetly tasty with accented flavor coming from the tofu, toge, nuts and egg; however the chewy noodles were a buzzkill to our foodgasm

Alright, I know you are raising an eyebrow (or perhaps even both) about this dish, since it does not look like a salad... at all! Well, I'm sorry but I don't have an answer for you because I myself got really puzzled with it.

However, setting that "it is not a salad" concern aside, I'd like to point out that this dish a unique one with its playful sweetness and ticklish sourness. I believe this was coming from the unripe mango extract mixed with vinaigrette. Also, the catfish itself was indeed crunchy with a shadowed fish taste perfect to stimulate the taste buds as well as the curiosity.

It was unfortunate that we just had 2 dishes in this restaurant; however, with this brief experience, I got a feeling that this restaurant is beyond okay, subject to re-assessment when I get to try other dishes here in this place. Any suggested dish to try for my next visit?
