Ta Ke Ho Me's P99 Sushi Rolls - A Must Try!

Ta Ke Ho Me's P99 Sushi for 8pcs - A Must Visit!

Ta Ke Ho Me (which is a play of words to make "take home" sound Japanese) is a new humble restaurant slightly hidden in the bustling Tomas Morato. It gained attention when it started to get viral in Facebook. The primary concept of this restaurant is to offer affordable sushi for take home, although  you may opt to enjoy them inside.

Uncomfortably hot interior
You'll understand why this restaurant is focusing on "take home" when you set foot inside. The interior is practically small, and can only accommodate about 10 people at a time. During the afternoon, the restaurant takes direct hit from the sun causing it to intensely heat up -- too intense that even the air-conditioning unit couldn't handle it.

This discomfort may take toll on your foodie experience, so it's best to avoid going here during the time mentioned. In our case, we decided to just shrug it off, since we were really excited to try the rolls out!

Prices of the sushi rolls are as follows:

Now, let's try to do the math to see which one is the most sulit.
  • P99 || 8 pieces || P12.375 per piece
  • P299 || 24 pieces || P12.483 per piece
  • P449 || 40 pieces || P11.225 per piece
The verdict? Avoid the middle. Go for either P99 or P449.

Alright, let's get down to business and check out the rolls!

Dragon Ball Roll - the butternut look-alike
Dragon Ball Roll of Ta Ke Ho Me

Dragon ball has this flavorful spiciness coming from the togarashi spice. Smoked salmon also has a distinct fresh saltiness bringing adventurous goodness to the roll. The sweetness of the mango cushions the overall flavor to even the ride.

Tkhm Roll - poorman's creamy salmon roll
Tkhm Roll - Creamy Salmon Roll

The Tkhm (/ta ke ho me/) Roll is a poorman's version of Torch's Creamy Salmon Roll (see more). Considering the price, this has a very noteworthy quality and taste. The flavor is highlighted by a salty overall from both the katsuboshi and the cream cheese, but this is balanced by the sweetness of the creamy mayo inside.

Migori Roll  - best pick among all
Migori Roll of Ta Ke Ho Me

Possibly the best among all four rolls that we tried, this Migori Roll has a combination of simple yet remarkable taste attributable to the smokiness of the torched salmon. The double layer of salmon also makes it really a winner for "sashimi" lovers!

Spicy Tuna Roll - the blacksheep

Perfect for those who like only mild spicy rolls. In fact, it may not be spicy at all. Fresh and ample mayo on top that gives it creaminess and sour goodness. Among the four, this was the least special.

Bacon Bomb || P79

Totally the bomb due to the playful combination of ingredients. The bacon provide the fatty tastiness mixed with the seafood essence.
