Watami & Bistro Group Haven in Uptown Mall, BGC

Watami & Bistro Group Haven in Uptown Mall, BGC

In search for something "light" to eat in BGC, we ended up exploring Uptown Mall, and just when we were almost ready to give up, we came across this area housing 3 restaurants from the Bistro Group -- Moe's, Watami and Texas Roadhouse. Right there and then, we knew we found the place where we would chill.

Dining initially in MOE's
At first, we decided to dine in MOE's, since we thought we were craving for some light Mexican snack. However, we ended up just ordering Mojito (P275), which has this light alcohol taste yet has the right kick, enough to make me all red. In other words, this drink is a traitor, and I love it.

Restaurant-hopping in a breeze
Upon re-evaluating what we really like for dinner, we decided that we wanted Japanese. Hence, we transferred seats to Watami, which is just a few steps away from where we originally sat. Yes, that's the good thing about this area. All the three (3) restaurants are under the same group, so they don't mind if you order or even sit in other restaurants.

For the evening, we just had light dishes (all of which are appetizers), since we were still feeling full. We had a tuna sashimi, chicken meatballs and rolled omelette.

Tuna Sashimi of Watami

The Tuna Sashimi (P245) was okay in terms of its taste, but it was a bit mushy rather than "smooth". I couldn't help but compare this with the best I've tasted in The Cafe of Hyatt Hotel or in Ichiba of Resorts World. Perhaps, I wanted it to be something that quickly melts in the mouth.

On another hand, the Chicken Meatball (P85 per stick) was very tasty and considerably affordable. Each bite gave up a meaty adventure full of flavors. It pairs up well with rice, in our opinion.

Lastly, the Rolled Omellete or Tamagoyaki (P175) was one of the best I had. The texture was very velvety that undeniably melts in the mouth. It also got this mild sweetness that I found perfect for the dish. We can really tell the intricacy and accuracy in the process. Two thumbs up!

Watami - Overall Ratings and Summary

Watami together with the 2 other restaurants from the Bistro Group allows you to try different cuisines (Mexican, Japanese and American) all at the same time. As a bonus, if you are a BFF card holder, you'll enjoy discount in 3 of them. The compound is definitely a haven for you to enjoy good food, and just chill with your barkada. It seems like we found our favorite tambayan in Uptown Mall.
