If I could fly for free, where would it be?

If I could fly for free, where would it be?

This may sound very silly to you, but if asked myself this question: "If I could fly for free, where would it be?". I don't have a ready answer.

In fact, right now, I can literally fly for free, since I already accumulated sufficient GetGo points over the years, but I honestly haven't given this much "serious" thought. In fact, I'm more into accumulating points than spending them. Well, what do you expect from a man who's a huge fan of anything that provides freebies. There's just an inexplicable joy whenever I see my points going up. This explains why whenever there's a way for me to earn GetGo points, I grab the chance immediately -- such as this interesting one.

Earning more GetGo points via TravelBook.ph
I recently learned that you can now directly earn GetGo points as you book your accommodations via TravelBook.ph. For every P10 you'll spend in your booking, you'll receive 1 GetGo point. Mathematically, you'll be earning 10% of your spending back as GetGo points. Also, since this promo just recently launched. They are giving away extra 50 points as bonus when you book an accommodation in www.travelbook.ph/getgo for the first time between May 12 to June 12, 2017. I'm getting crazy over the thought of earning lots of GetGo points!

The thought of being able to earn yourself some free flights as you book creates a wonderful cycle. You book a flight -- you earn points. You book accommodations in your destination -- you earn points. You fly for free with the points, and book a hotel -- you earn points once again.

Now that I'm on the topic, I can't help but to re-think of the question once more. "Where would it be, if I could fly for free?"

A dream to travel solo
To tell you the truth, I have been dreaming to experience solo traveling (starting first locally and perhaps abroad). A lot of those who were able to do so seemed very fulfilled especially with all the meaningful realizations they experienced over the course of their solo travel. I want to experience the same, but the problem is, I can't get through the first question: "Where do I want to go?"

Now, in order to answer this, I need to know what do I look for in a solo-travel destination, so let me think as I write this post.

(1) I want the destination to be foreign. Foreign in a sense that I haven't been into the place. Being away from the comfort zones puts up a challenge of really finding more about one's self. I may feel lost, but I'm sure I'll learn a lot.

(2) I am a big fan of bodies of water -- fresh water to be specific. The sight of blue just gives immediate relaxation, and I think that will be great for solo traveling. I can already feel the comfort of the waters just by imagining myself submerging myself into its luscious blue waves.

(3) I want a place where I can try something different -- or do something different. Maybe something that I am scared of doing such as adrenaline-inducing activities. It can also be activities that I've longed doing, but didn't have much opportunity to do so.

(4)  I want to try something new or interesting for the palate. Given that I am a foodie, I want to be acquainted with the culture through their food. Nothing beats having something new and delicious lingering in the palate.

With all of these things, I think something is popping up in my mind. There is still uncertainty in my mind, but I think that's how it should be. So, to cut the blabber short, I think my dream destination would be Surigao del Sur.

Why not, right? The Enchanted River is something very enthralling to look forward to. The water seems very inviting, and it feels like it will wash all worries in life. The Tinuy-an falls is also another great place to visit once I'm there, not to mention that I can try something different as I surf the waves of  Lanuza Surfing Ground. Food here seems interesting as well, and I can't wait to try the Sayongsong, a special kakanin wrapped in banana leaves.

Finally, at this point, I can finally say that I found a great candidate for my first solo travel adventure! The time has come for me to spend some of the Getgo points I've earned! Now that I've answered the question, can you answer it too?
