Exile on Main St. just recently celebrated its 2nd year of existence, and I was invited to its Anniversary Party. Since this is the case, I grabbed the opportunity to update some of the contents of this blog post.

This blog post is just a follow up to my earlier post entitled: Food Trip: Exile on Main St. Restaurant near Taft

The Place

If you are having a trouble locating Exile, the map I posted in the other blog post may help you out. However, to aid you further on this, I took a photo of the place just before we entered.

You will notice at first glance that Exile looks like an ordinary apartment/home. This is why I'm showing this - so by the time you reach the place, you will no longer wonder.

What I really like about the place is its simple yet unique concept found in almost every corner of the place (even the outside). Check out the photo below, and be humored by what they did with some old footwear.

Here's how the inside looks like:

You'll see there a short table and a chair hanging on the ceiling as if things turned upside down. Well, frankly, sometimes I worry that it may fall, but hopefully it won't.

Seating capacity: Less than 20 inside and 10 outside

What I appreciate the most about the place and its owners is their appreciation of the arts. It can be sense everywhere! In fact, Exile on Main St. exhibits some of the works of local artists which you may freely view.

The Food and the Story

Just recently, I was able to once again try eating out in Exile on Main St. Restaurant near DLSU (located right across the back entrance of Burgundy Transpacific Place). This time, instead of having their famous chicken, I had Drunken Dory (P120) instead.

This Drunk'en Dory is "soused" in a special batter (think about why it was named that way, and you'll have an idea of what the batter was) and then deep fried. What I like about this awesome dish is the texture of the fish as well as the amazing zesty dip (i.e. Lemon Caper Sauce) that comes along with it. And for P120, I think this was able to maximize the value for my money.

As for the desserts, we had Y Tu Mama Brownie P75 plus P45 for ala mode.
Dutch cocoa, semisweet chocolate chips and walnuts get it on to create this dark and gooey brownie. Served warm with generous drizzling of caramel sauce.

And my goodness! It tasted heaven - 5 flavors bursting inside your mouth: cocoa, chocolate, walnuts, caramel and ice cream! What I liked the most about this dessert was that the level of sweetness was controlled, making you focus more on the blissful infusion of flavors! Needless to say, this goodie is definitely a must-try!

Oh by the way, you should note that the ice cream they use is homemade, so expect something different!

You can purchase the ice cream itself at P45 for single scoop and P85 for double scoop.

    1. Yup, after the rise of a handful of condos in Taft, a lot of people invested in opening up restaurants around. And this means: more variety for students!
